What years are allowable and what changes would I need from the normal 593 Non-HO. I am at a cross roads, I had 4 usable engines but due to the issues I had I am down to need to get a new bottom end on one, destroyed 1 case so can only salvage parts from it. I think I can by a short block 593 no-HO from the dealer (or so he said that part number was available) for 2500.00 to put all the parts on from my destroyed motor. Mark mentioned it has the same bolt pattern, and would need an insert for the carbs, and the boots may be hard to get. Maybe a good thread to discuss what need to change for this motor.

Lance, that is a lot of money for a incomplete engine.

Have you looked for a used case ? From what I saw in the photo, you should have all the parts needed to assemble a compete engine.

It was 2500.00 about. problem with the Ebay motors, you never know what is inside, so it could be an illegal over bore, so by the time you fix that, you could have bought a new short block. And I do not trust the crank after that whack.

Good points. Yes, the crank could have been overstressed.
