CHANGING TIMES F500 now F600
For some reason, which as far as I can tell, has not been explained, the SCCA in it's officialdom, has again changed the name of the two cycle and motorcycle powered small formula class of race cars.
What originally started out as F440, then in the later 90's, the name changed to F500. Over time, the engine displacement has grown, partly because of a shortage of replacement engines and parts, and partly because people just wanted to go faster. The use of the engines with the displacement of 440 and 500CC are not restricted from use. As a matte of fact, the smaller displacement engines are proving to be quite successful in auto-cross because of the small engines allow for lighter weight cars.
Apparently at the beginning of the year, 2023, the SCCA formula class F500 no longer exist. Now it is officially F600
In considering the prospect of changing the name of this site, I have decided that I will NOT change the name. On the internet, name changes can be difficult for user to follow, so rather than cause a big confusion, the name will stay "racingthef500.com"
