2002 Legend Electronics for 593

Post by reddevilsix »

Copied from Dix's site.

So.. I'm deep into the 593 research and have a couple of questions.

1. Even though the 2002 Legends (500-800) have the 360W charging system, the part numbers for electrical components (stator, voltage regulator, etc) are different than the same component part numbers on all the 2003 sleds with the 360w system. Does this mean that the electrical components for the 2002 Legends are unique to only that series of sleds in that year?

2. I have the complete engine electrical system from a 2002 Legend 500 (less the voltage regulator), and I'm trying to figure out which parts are unterchangeable for use with a 593. I've been comparing the OEM microfische at several on-line parts suppliers, and it looks like the stator, flywheel and pickups are the same on the Legend 500 and 600; and the MPEM from the 500 can be used with the 600 if it's re-flashed by Rotax. It also looks like the voltage regulator is the same for all Legends that year (500 - 800). Does anyone know if these conclusions are correct?

OK... from what I have found thus far.... the only difference from the 2002 Legend to the usual 2003-up system is that there's an AC tach lead out of the 02 Legend regulator... which is meaningless for an F500 application as you're not going to be using the stock sled tach anyway... so you can use any 360w system 12V DC only regulator... including the 2003-up piece.
